Aim:

To develop resilient, confident and independent learners

 How?

To shift practice and pedagogy to support this aim – focusing on Y7 and carry on with Y8 extended project.

To establish and embed a set of pedagogy and practice expectations for teaching and learning for Yr 7 teachers and tutors.

To place the onus upon Y7 students so as they reflect upon their learning, translate this into an awareness of their learning and share their learning experiences by teaching others what they have learnt.

Expectations

All Y7 teachers and tutors will plan for:

1.     Q and A sessions: ‘bounce and pounce’; no hands up and the use of Bloom’s Taxonomy

2.     Team work- with a brief

3.     A problem solving activity

4.     Self and peer learning and assessment with clear success criteria

5.     Student voice style marking dialogue

6.     Extended homework project

7.     Students designing resources for their exhibition that show their own learning and teach others

8.     Mindmapping – what have you learnt?
